To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'homot3r.exe' = '"%APPDATA%\homot3r.exe"'
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'homot3r.exe' = '"%APPDATA%\homot3r.exe"'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\{%USERNAME%-iwu9oijf0e9ij330urOIHO92w}\homot3r.exe
Malicious functions:
Injects code into
the following system processes:
- %WINDIR%\Explorer.EXE
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- %TEMP%\~rafkkhm.tmp
- %TEMP%\~salymca.tmp
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- <Drive name for removable media>:\{%USERNAME%-iwu9oijf0e9ij330urOIHO92w}\homot3r.exe
Deletes the following files:
- %TEMP%\~salymca.tmp
Moves itself:
- from <Full path to virus> to %APPDATA%\homot3r.exe
Network activity:
Connects to:
- 'ar####3.no-ip.info':7080
UDP:
- DNS ASK ar####3.no-ip.info
Miscellaneous:
Searches for the following windows:
- ClassName: 'Indicator' WindowName: ''
