To ensure autorun and distribution:
Modifies the following registry keys:
- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'MusaLLaT' = '%APPDATA%\MusaLLaT.exe'
Creates the following services:
- [<HKLM>\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\sr] 'ImagePath' = '<DRIVERS>\sr.sys'
Infects the following executable system files:
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\notepad.exe.new
Substitutes the following executable system files:
- <SYSTEM32>\notepad.exe with <SYSTEM32>\notepad.exe.new
- <SYSTEM32>\notepad.exe with <SYSTEM32>\notepad.exe
Malicious functions:
To complicate detection of its presence in the operating system,
blocks the following features:
- User Account Control (UAC)
Creates and executes the following:
- %APPDATA%\MusaLLaT.exe
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- <SYSTEM32>\notepad.exe.new
- %APPDATA%\Declare.ini
- <SYSTEM32>\dllcache\notepad.exe.new
- %APPDATA%\MusaLLaT.exe
- %APPDATA%\msn(1)(1).ico
- <SYSTEM32>\notepadd.exe
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- %APPDATA%\Declare.ini
- %APPDATA%\MusaLLaT.exe
Deletes the following files:
- %TEMP%\~DFA18C.tmp
- <DRIVERS>\etc\hosts
- %APPDATA%\msn(1)(1).ico
- <SYSTEM32>\notepad.exe
Substitutes the HOSTS file.
