- [<HKLM>\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] 'Xrefl' = '%WINDIR%\worm.xrefl.exe'
Creates the following files on removable media:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
Malicious functions:
Executes the following:
- <SYSTEM32>\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Activate_RunDLL
Injects code into
the following system processes:
- %WINDIR%\Explorer.EXE
Terminates or attempts to terminate
the following user processes:
- firefox.exe
- YahooMessenger.exe
Modifies settings of Windows Internet Explorer:
- [<HKCU>\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] 'Window Title' = 'worm.xrefl'
Modifies file system :
Creates the following files:
- C:\autorun.inf
- %HOMEPATH%\Desktop\worm.xrefl\Help about Xrefl virus.txt
Sets the 'hidden' attribute to the following files:
- <Drive name for removable media>:\autorun.inf
- C:\autorun.inf
